Tablets

Pharmaceutical tablets are fascinating objects with intricate, hierarchical porous structure that ranges from nano- to micro- and macro-scale. The way in which individual components such as the API and excipients are arranged reflects the processing history, and determines the release profile during dissolution. We aim to understand tablet disintegration and dissolution processes through the combination of advanced imaging methods and mathematical modelling, in order to enable rational design and formulation of tablets.
